# Overview and Navigation

### Overview

This section introduces Lucid’s interface and the purpose of each area. You’ll learn how to navigate the plugin and what core features each area provides.

### 1. Top Bar

The **Top Bar** is where you load and save presets, view notifications, and access additional settings.

Global output gain and limiter controls are on the right side of the Top Bar. Use them to control Lucid’s final output level.

### 2. View Tabs

The tabs in the top-left of the plugin window open Lucid’s two main views: [**Granular**](/lucid-manual/granular-view.md) and [**Effects**](/lucid-manual/effects-rack.md).

The **Effects** tab also includes a bypass button to quickly toggle the entire effects rack on and off.

### 3. Loop Length

Adjusts the length of the waveform shown in the display.

In **Stretch** mode, this setting is purely visual and changes the amount of the waveform shown, allowing you to focus on shorter or longer sections of the incoming audio without affecting playback.

In **Scrub** mode, it sets how much captured audio is available to scrub through.

### 4. Granular View

The **Granular View** includes all controls and parameters that become visible when selecting the **Granular** tab at the top of the interface. The sections below outline the names and functions of the different areas available in this view.

### 5. Modulation Bar

Lucid’s [modulation system](/lucid-manual/modulation.md) includes two macro controls, six swappable modulators, and a full-featured mod matrix.

Here you can quickly assign modulation via a drag-and-drop workflow, edit individual modulators, and swap modulator types without losing existing modulation connections.

### 6. Dry and Wet Controls

A dedicated **Dry/Wet** section lets you set the global mix between the dry input and the processed wet signal to achieve the right balance.

The [**Dry/Wet Routing**](/lucid-manual/effects-rack/shared-settings.md) button sets whether the dry/wet mix is applied before or after the Effects Rack, which determines whether the effects also process your dry signal.

### 7. Animator Pad

Lucid's bottom panel contains the [**Animator Pad**](/lucid-manual/animator-pad.md), a single XY pad that controls both macros at once. Animate the macro positions to inject organic movement, turning every preset into an expressive performance.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://manual.minimal.audio/lucid-manual/overview-and-navigation.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
